Software and Hardware Requirements

Software Requirements

No specific software is required except a Web browser. Recommended browsers are listed below.

Recommended Operating Systems:

  • Windows XP or later
  • Max OS X

Valid E-mail: A valid e-mail address is required for account access and vital course communications from the Institute.
 

Recommended Browsers:

  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (v7 or higher)
  • Safari (v3 or higher)
  • Google Chrome (v4 or higher)

Browser configurations: 

• Pop-ups allowed
• JavaScript enabled
• Cookies allowed 


Word Processor:
Students must have access to a word processor that is capable of editing/viewing documents in Word (.doc) and/or Rich Text (.rtf) formats, such as Microsoft Word, and Write/WordPad (in Windows). PDFs are acceptable as well.

There are several free open source programs, such as Open Office, that are capable of creating Microsoft Office-compatible documents.
 

Hardware Requirements

There is no particular hardware requirement for the computer(s) for online courses. Any computer with reasonable performance running a modern operating system, browser, word processor, and media player is okay. A PC or Mac may be used. 

Other Requirements and Recommendations

Internet Connection: All students are required to have access to the Internet to enroll and participate in courses. High speed Internet connection is strongly recommended, but not required.
