IDF Arrests Several Suspects In Southern Syria, Removes Threats Against Golan Heights Residents
The IDF’s 210th Division arrested several suspects in southern Syria, the military said Sunday (29th). The division was deployed to the area to remove threats to Israeli civilians, particularly those who live in the Golan Heights, the IDF noted.
It was the division’s Alexandroni Brigade who made the arrests as part of the defense activities in the area, the military added.
The brigade had also completed several raids on weapons depots this week and arrested terror suspects, who were transferred for further investigation.
The division’s forces were also deployed from the Mount Hermon area to the “border triangle” which is on the border of Israel, Syria, and Jordan.
The last report of the division’s activity in Syria was earlier in June, where Alexandroni Brigades targeted Hamas terrorists in the Beit Jinn area.
IDF troops executed a targeted nighttime operation in Syria and apprehended several Hamas terrorists who had been attempting to advance multiple terror plots against Israeli civilians and soldiers in Syria, which was done based on intelligence gathered by the military weeks beforehand.
At the beginning of the month, the division uncovered combat equipment, including several rocket shells and landmines, in southern Syria.
Also, the division treated more than 500 wounded Syrian civilians in the area of Hader in southern Syria over the past few weeks.
Shin Bet Busts Major Hamas Cell, Arrests 60 In Hebron
The Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) announced Sunday (29th) a major operation against a Hamas network in the Judean city of Hebron, describing it as “one of the largest uncovered in recent years.”
According to the Shin Bet, the network had planned to carry out attacks “in the immediate future.” The operation was conducted in cooperation with the Defense Forces and Israel Police.
More than 60 terrorists were arrested during the operation, and 22 weapons were confiscated.
In their interrogation, the suspects provided valuable intelligence that led to more arrests. Some 10 terror squads planning attacks were identified and eliminated,” the Shin Bet said.
The Shin Bet also reported on Sunday (29th) that investigators had solved a deadly shooting that took place 15 years ago at the Bani Na’im junction near Hebron, in which four Israelis were murdered. No further details were provided in the statement.
Separately, the Israel Police announced on Sunday (29th) the arrest of five relatives of the terrorist who carried out the 2023 attack at the Eli gas station in Samaria.
The arrests followed the distribution online of a video in which the family members praised the deadly Eli attack, in which four Israelis were murdered and four others wounded by two Hamas-affiliated Palestinian gunmen. Both perpetrators were killed.
In the video, the relatives waved Hamas flags and expressed support for the terrorist organization.
“This was one of the most extensive counter-terrorism investigations conducted in the West Bank in the past decade,” a Shin Bet official said. “Uncovereing the terror infrastructure that had operated covertly, thwarted Hamas’ intent to carry out attacks.”
Houthis Pick Up Where Islamic Republic Left Off By Returning To Attacks On Israel- Analysis
The Iran-backed Houthis appear to be seeking to pick up where Iran left off by renewing ballistic missile attacks on Israel. Sirens sounded across the Negev on Saturday morning (28th) . The IDF said it had detected and attempted to intercept the missile.
This was the first attack in four days since the ceasefire with Iran began on June 24. The Houthis back Hamas and have vowed to continue attacking Israel until there is a ceasefire in Gaza.
The military said at around 7 a.m Saturday (28th) “the IDF identified the launch of a missile from Yemen toward Israeli territory, and that aerial defense systems were operating to intercept the threat. The public was requested to follow Home Front Command’s defensive guidelines.”
The Houthi media outlet Al-Nasirah mentioned the attack in several posts on June 28. The Houthis took a back seat during the Iran-Israel conflict. They did not fire missiles for a week and a half and were likely consolidating themselves and letting the Iranians do the work. Now, with Iran out of the picture, due to a U.S.-brokered ceasefire, they may rejoin the fight.
Why would the Houthis seek to return to fighting? They have suffered relatively limited losses over the past year and a half since they began attacks on Israel in the wake of the Hamas attack of October 7, 2023.
The Houthis have attacked ships, and have even boarded and taken over one commercial ship they claimed was linked to Israel. They have launched drone and cruise missile attacks and have also launched numerous ballistic missile attacks. The ballistic missile attacks increased in the last months of 2024 and stopped due to the January-March ceasefire in Gaza. Then they began again in March and April.
The Yemen-based terror group has aimed to keep up the tempo of attacks despite six Israeli retaliatory raids on Yemen that used long-range air force strikes to hit them. This enabled the IDF to fine tune strikes later used on Iran because the Houthis are more than 1,000 miles away, a similar distance to Iran.
However, the attacks on the Houthis didn’t appear to cause very much damage, and have apparently not set back their missile program. This enables them to continue attacking Israel.
IDF: Iran Seeking To Destabilize Jordan
The Israeli military believes that the greatest security threat to Israel in the coming years is likely to shift from the north and south to the eastern border, to Jordan.
According to the Israel Defense Forces, after its setbacks in other arenas, Iran is expected to focus on undermining Jordanian stability. Tehran’s goal is to turn Jordan into a new platform for its proxy forces against Israel. While the Israel-Jordan border has long been relatively quiet, mostly plagued by smuggling, a recently uncovered network aimed at destabilizing Jordan – a long-standing strategic partner of Israel – has raised serious concerns. The IDF recognizes that close security cooperation with Jordan is not sufficient on its own.
The military’s response to this emerging threat is the rapid operational deployment of Division 96, also known as the Gilad Division, under the command of BG Oren Simcha. Initially scheduled to become active months from now, the division was quickly mobilized following the outbreak of Operation Rising Lion, highlighting the urgent need to reinforce Israel’s eastern border.
Division 96 is tasked with defending Israel’s longest border, which stretches for hundreds of kilometers. Its most recent deployment included the 417th Jordan Valley regional Brigade and a reserve infantry Brigade. Additionally, the IDF is introducing a new strategic initiative under the Gilad Division: the formation of “David Brigades,” regional defense units designed to secure areas deep within Israel’s interior that have previously lacked sufficient protection.
Israel Hayom has learned that the first of the David Brigades will become operational in August, assuming responsibility for a sector in Judea and Sanaria. This move is intended not to prepare the unit for emergency deployment in its own sector but to relieve pressure on other overextended reserve units.
All the new brigades, including two composed of former naval personnel retrained for ground combat, are expected to be operational by February. The objective is to reduce the extreme load currently borne by both reserve and regular IDF brigades, which have been engaged almost continuously since October 7.
Meanwhile, the government is investing millions of shekels in reactivating abandoned military posts under the Gilad Division’s command and significantly bolstering settlement efforts in the area. This includes the establishment of a new city along the border, the creation of new settlement outposts, and the official recognition and strengthening of existing communities. A major border fence is also in the works, aimed at completing a comprehensive defense system.
The revamped eastern border is envisioned as a model response to the October 7 massacre by Hamas: secure borders, robust settlement infrastructure, and proactive preparation for future threats, rather than reactive measures.
‘Germany Is 100% Behind Israel,’ Minister Vows At Site Of Iranian Strike On Bat Yam
“Israel must be supported in its fight against terror,” German Interior Minister Alexander Dohbrindt said during a visit to the site of Iran’s missile attack in Bat Yam.
“There is no justification for attacks on a civilian population, as occurred here,” the minister said on Sunday (29th).
Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accompanied Dohbrindt on the first diplomatic visit to Israel following the conclusion of Operation Rising Lion.
“Anyone who sees what the Iranians did to civilians here should fear what they could do with a nuclear bomb.” Dohbrindt said, thanking Sa’ar for the invitation to visit Israel.
During the visit, Dohbrindt said Germany is aiming to establish a joint German-Israeli cyber research center and deepen collaboration between the countries’ intelligence and security agencies.
“We are 100% behind Israel’s actions in recent days, including the strike on nuclear sites. The nuclear threat is not only a danger to Israel but to all of Europe. Israel, Germany and the United States will not accept a nuclear-armed Iran.”
During the war with Iran, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that by striking Iran, Israel was doing the “dirty work” for everyone, and that he had “the greatest respect” for the Israeli army and government for the courage to face Iran.
Sa’ar thanked his friend Dohbrindt for coming on the solidarity visit to Israel and for his long-stancing friendship and consistent support of Israel.
“Israel acted to remove an immediate existential threat, and did so successfully,” he said.
“Now, the international community must take concrete steps against Iran’s nuclear program, especially in light of the Iranian regime’s attacks on the IAEA and its announcement that it will stop cooperating with it.”
“This is the time for the E3 countries – the UK, Germany, and France – to activate the snapback mechanism, a concrete measure that lies within their power,” Sa’ar said.
Mossad Trolls Iranian Officials: ‘We See You Follow Us On Social Media, We Follow You Too’
The Mossad uploaded a post to its official account on X on Sunday evening (29th), taking a swipe at Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander Mohammad Pakpour, Iranian Armed Forces Chief of Staff Abdolrahim Mousavi, and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
In the post, the Mossad claims it “conducted a thorough review of the page’s followers and was not surprised to find that the honorable gentlemen Pakpour, Mousavi, and Araghchi are among our most loyal viewers.”
It noted that “of course, they use their secondary phones, and two of them even utilize private internet connections.”
The Mossad added: “As a token of appreciation, we are also following them.”
Addressing the Iranian people, the post reiterated that they can continue to view the page’s content, but asked them to refrain from reacting to the published content for their safety. “We will continue to provide important news updates,” the post continued.
Two of the three officials, Pakpour and Mousavi, assumed their positions earlier in the month, after their predecessors were eliminated in Israeli strikes.
The Israeli spy agency took center stage in Israel’s recent confrontation with Iran. Besides providing intelligence on Iranian targets, Mossad agents operated UAV bases on Iranian soil, launching attack drones during the IDF’s opening attack.
Mossad’s infiltration has set off a panic within the regime. According to Iranian and foreign reports, the regime has launched a sweeping “manhunt” targeting civilians suspected of links to espionage services.
Fars News Agency (FNA), affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that over the past 12 days of recent hostilities, more than 700 individuals were arrested across Iran on suspicion of collaborating with foreign intelligence services, including Israel’s Mossad, the U.S. CIA, and Britain’s MI6.
Israeli Spies Have Been In Iran For Years – Gabrielle Weiniger
Leaked intelligence documents seen by The Times appeared to reveal the full extent of Iran’s nuclear and missile ambitions. The conclusion of Israel’s spy agency, Mossad, as well as other military intelligence arms, was that the regime was racing ahead to develop these ambitions.
An intelligence source told The Times on Friday (27th) that Israel had been monitoring multiple operations through intelligence agents for years, with each location having “boots on the ground beforehand.” Intelligence officers used spies on the ground to map the layout of the Natanz facility, Iran’s main enrichment site.
Israel’s reconnaissance infiltrated, attacked and destroyed a facility in Isfahan, the Nur and Mogdeh sites for calculation and labs, the Shariati military site, and the large hanger at Shahid Meisami which manufactured the plastic explosives used for testing nuclear weapons, as well as other advanced materials and chemicals.
The documents also pointed to the infiltration of the headquarters of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which was attacked in the later days of the war, and of nuclear sites such as Sanjarian, which developed components involved in the creation of nuclear weapons.
Agents in Iran visited every workshop and factory that were later attacked, enabling Israel to target “the entire industry that supported the manufacturing of large amounts of missiles,” according to an intelligence source. The dozens of locations and sites attacked included Muad Tarkivi Novad which produced all the carbon fiber needed to produce missiles. Others included strikes for guidance, navigation and control of missiles and the production of warheads and engines. (The Times-UK)
