Archaeologists from Kinneret College in Israel and Nyack College in New York, believe they have found the Church of the Apostles on the Northern shores of the Sea of Galilee. Tradition claims this ancient church was built over the house of Peter and Andrew, the disciples of Jesus. They also believe this helps identify the biblical Bethsaida, a fishing town off the shores of the Sea of Galilee. 

Bethsaida is an important link to our faith. It’s the hometown of Peter and Andrew… and it’s where Jesus healed the blind man in Mark 8. These excavations seem to provide clarity on the exact location of Biblical Bethsaida. Archaeologists found not only this ancient church, but a Roman bath, which would also connect to Bethsaida’s history when it was transformed into a Roman city and named Julias. This is an exciting time for uncovering the truth of God’s word as archaeologists excavate through the Holy Land.
