Last weekend at least three attacks occurred perpetrated by Muslim terrorists. Two of the attacks were on Jewish synagogues, one in Michigan and the other in Norway, while the other occurred at Old Dominion University in Virginia.
One of the synagogues attacked was in our community where we live, West Bloomfield, MI. The incident put our community in the limelight as news reports came from both national and international media outlets, Even President Trump himself mentioned the attack.
The suspect, Ayman Ghazali, 41 years of age, drove his truck loaded with commercial grade fireworks and several cans of accelerant into the Temple Israel doors close to the area where 140 children were located. “The FBI says the Michigan synagogue attacker, after sitting in the parking lot for two hours before ramming his vehicle into the building. He died of a self inflicted gunshot wound.” He had links to the terror organization Hezbollah, including his brother serving as a commander in the organization. He said he attacked the synagogue because some of his family members were killed in Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon. He comes from Dearborn which has an Arab Muslim community of 350,000 residents.
The increase of anti-Semitic attacks seems to increase daily. No where is immune or safe. It can happen anywhere, anytime. This incident was a terrorist attack by a Muslim. As one local Jewish resident said, “This should be a wake up call.”
It should be for all of us.
