Terror Victim Saves Five Lives

In News Surrounding Israel by Jesse King

Terrorists killed three Israelis—a mother and two of her daughters—in a shooting attack in the Jordan Valley on Friday. But even in tragedy, hope was found. Rabbi Leo Dee chose to donate the vital organs of his wife, Leah (Lucy) Dee, 48, who was killed in the shooting. As a result, she saved five lives and made two cornea donations.

Economy Minister Nir Barkat noted the difference between Israel and the terrorists that attack Israelis:

“When the mother died just a few hours ago, [the Dee family] donated the organs to save other people’s lives. And on the other side, the terrorists—do you know what they’re going to get from the Palestinian Authority? A million dollars for the rest of their lives—for killing innocent Jews,” he said.

“That’s the difference between living as Jews, seeking life and making a better life for other people, and the terrorists, who all they seek is death. That’s all they seek.”

Barkat’s statement is chilling but true. Terrorists who hate Jewish people only look to take life. Israelis look to save lives even when their loved ones lose their lives. As the number of murders at the hands of terrorists continues to rise, we pray for the safety of Israel and its people.
