The International Criminal Court has 133 member nations and six nations that have not joined the Court, including the United States and Israel. Bloomberg News reports “The United States and allied nations are worried that the issuing of International Criminal Court arrest warrants could sink hostages for a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.”
The report cites “unnamed sources” that have concerns that Israel could back away from the ceasefire agreement. It says that “G7 nation states have begun a quiet diplomatic effort to convey that message to the court.” One of the issues presented to the court is the possibility that Israel is deliberately starving the Palestinian people, and may have committed war crimes in their fight against Hamas.
The charge, even the thought, that Israel is doing anything of the kind is unthinkable. Hamas, not Israel, is harming their people, committing war crimes. The hostages should be released now, without further accommodations or concessions by Israel. International pressure must be placed on Hamas, the true criminals in this conflict, which began October 7, 2023.
