Quadruple Murder Shocks Arab Sector

In News Surrounding Israel by Jesse King

Four people were killed in a shootout in the Western Galilee town of Abu Snan on Tuesday. The fatalities included an Israeli Arab mayoral candidate and two of his relatives. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged to curb the crime wave plaguing Israel’s Arab sector, saying, “We have eliminated organized crime in the Jewish sector in Israel, and we will eliminate organized crime in the Arab sector in Israel.” Already 156 Arab Israelis have been killed in 2023, more than twice as many during this same period last year.

Netanyahu is right to focus his attention on addressing the rising crime in the Arab sector. He has called in the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) to find answers and bring the criminals responsible for the quadruple murder to justice. Through their efforts, Israel’s Arab community may find the security it needs and the answers it deserves.
